Double Double Reed
The latest stage in the completion of Into the Woods was the recording of the Oboe and Cor Anglais of my old friend, Tony Freer. Tony and I have known each other since he became a member of The Enid in 1978, and we recorded three albums together before I left the band in May 1979.
Tony played on Heart of Oak, and I wanted him to be a part of the new album. He is a wonderful player and creates a special sound. He recorded the written parts to six tunes in about four hours, with many first takes, all of them sight reading the music. I even persuaded him to improvise a little during the session.
As usual, Mike Guest was there to film the session, and I hope to be able to share a few clips soon.
